Elemental Yin Yoga Workshop

• Love your Yin yoga and want to deepen your practice?
• Tried Yin and not yet convinced?
• Never tried Yin and want to know more about it?
This workshop is for everyone! Yin Yoga is often seen as ‘a good stretch’ or ‘a gentle, relaxing yoga practice”. And whereas it can be both these things, it is so much more than that.
Our lives are so often very Yang in nature (busy, driven, stressful), and Yin Yoga is a fantastic way to bring us back to balance, to nourish and rejuvenate.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) teaches us that keeping our life force energy – or qi – flowing freely is essential to health and wellbeing. Qi flows in the body through Energy Pathways or Meridians and these pathways can become blocked or stagnant due to physical and emotional stress. We can use our Yin Yoga to target these pathways and get our qi flowing smoothly once more.
In this workshop you will:
– Gain an understanding of the 5 Elements of TCM and the 12 Meridians related to these elements.
– Create your own Yin Yoga practice specifically designed to bring YOU to harmony
– Discover other strategies to help balance your Yin and Yang energies
Each participant will receive a workbook and 5 Yin practices to take home – each designed to support a specific elemental imbalance.

While working an unfulfilling 9-5 job, chronic pain and a general feeling of ‘un-wellness’ put me on a path of exploration that led me to Kinesiology. Those sessions helped me find the inner strength to leave the corporate world and complete my Yogalates teacher training. A mixture of Yoga and Pilates – Yogalates focuses on core engagement, breathwork and stability – both inner and outer. What I love about YL is that it is all about the body and how it feels, not what it looks like. It is fully inclusive and can be modified for all body types and injuries/limitations.
To help me better understand the connection between the mind and the body, I studied both Kinesiology and Mind Body Medicine. These modalities are all about finding and releasing stress in the body, using various techniques including acupressure, Chinese Medicine, counselling and energetic medicine. Kinesiology helps peel back the layers so you can get to the heart of the issue, instead of just treating the symptoms. Mind Body Medicine helps us to understand the messages our body is sending us via our various aches, pains and illnesses.
